Privacy Policy — Stardormic

Stardormic ("we," "us," or "SD") is India's campus founder network, operated by Bhargav Pesala. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights as a user. We keep this simple and honest — no legal jargon designed to confuse you.

1. What We Collect

When you sign up and use Stardormic, we collect the following information:

Your name, email address, and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication)
Your college name, city, and pincode
Your Dormic ID (SD-XXXX format, chosen by you)
Skills you add to your profile
Startup ideas you post publicly on the platform
Contact links you choose to add (WhatsApp, Instagram, LinkedIn)
Your approximate location (city/state level) for the live builder map feature, if your browser grants permission
Usage data such as which features you use and when you logged in (via Firebase Analytics)

2. What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your precise GPS location without your explicit permission
We do not sell your data to anyone, ever
We do not show you ads based on your personal data
We do not read your direct messages — Stardormic does not have a messaging system; all contact happens outside our platform

3. How We Use Your Data

To create and manage your account
To display your public Builder profile to other users
To show your startup ideas to potential team members
To calculate your Builder Score based on platform activity
To send a one-time welcome email when you sign up (via Resend)
To show your approximate location as a dot on the live builder map (only if you allow it)
To improve the platform based on usage patterns

4. Who Sees Your Data

Your profile — name, Dormic ID, college, city, skills, and startup ideas — is public to all logged-in Stardormic users. This is by design: Stardormic is a discovery network.

Your email address is never shown to other users. Only you and Stardormic can see it.

Your password is never stored in readable form — Firebase Authentication handles all password security.

5. Third-Party Services We Use

Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database, file storage, and analytics. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Resend — Welcome email delivery. Your email is sent to Resend only once, for the welcome email.
Google Fonts — Font delivery. Google may log font requests.
Hostinger — Web hosting. Your requests are served through Hostinger's servers.

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your profile, ideas, and all associated data are permanently deleted from our database within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

You can edit your profile data at any time from your dashboard
You can delete your account from the dashboard settings — all your data will be removed
You can request a copy of your data by emailing us at hello@stardormic.com
You can opt out of the live builder map by not granting location permission in your browser

8. Cookies

Stardormic uses minimal cookies — only those required for Firebase Authentication (session cookies) and basic analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

9. Children's Privacy

Stardormic is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a user under 13 has created an account, please contact us at hello@stardormic.com.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform grows. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we make changes. Significant changes will be communicated via the platform or email.
